so i'm building a bike using an 18" kula frame....the last 18" caldera frame i owned, had a top swing (clamp on bottom) front derailluer on it....now on this one, i'm wondering can i use a bottom swing (clamp on top) derailleur? not because i WANT to, but it's the only kind i can find for cheap...i'm just wondering if the clamp will clear the bottom water bottle cage mount.....also, any performance differences between TS or BS? thanks again!

No difference in performance. They do the same thing. However, I'd go with the top swing. The bottom swing may not clear the chain stay when gears are changed.
