I have a question for anyone that specializes in older bikes. I have a 1997 Cannondale Super V900 that I can't bring myself to part ways with. It was my first major bike purchase. Anyway, getting ready to pass it down to my 13 year old and noticed the original sealed Shimano bottom bracket (BB-L26 110mm) has gone bad. I want to replace and have had no success finding the part. My question is, can I replace with any 110x68 spindle or is it brand specific? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You're in the wrong forum - you should post in the "Vintage,Retro,Classic" forum. But anyway, if it's a square taper crank you should be able to use any square taper BB of the right length. You can buy a cheap Shimano BB for $13:

Universal Cycles -- Shimano UN26 Bottom Bracket

I'm assuming you have a crank puller tool and know which side of the bottom bracket is threaded backwards...
