this friend of mine who rides mtb and moto is the subject matter. Do any of you know that arch that can be found up on the poison spider mesa, close to the edge of a big drop-off? He likes to ride the arch. The pics make my orifices clamp shut.

That is "Little arch" and seeing that scares the crap out of me.

That's the arch on Poison Spider. About the only interesting spot on that ride.

Put that same piece of rock at ground level and any one of us could ride across it 20 times without a mishap, but elevate if a few hundred feet off the valley floor and riding it becomes a nutso move. It's funny how when the price of failure is death even a simple move gains a whole new perspective.

Exactly. I lay a 2x4 board on my driveway, and I can ride up and down it's length all day long. Elevate that board 4 feet off the ground and it becomes an impossible feat for me.

continue straight ahead and then cut off to the right. brake to a full stop, then throw up. repeat as necessary.

The ride across doesn't look too bad.

Yes, Jon rides up the dome a bit, pulls a u-turn, and comes back the same way.
As I said, he has no fear, and he's crazy.

Hey I knew a nut also named Jon that rides in moab all the time. He does (or used to) trials on motorcycles. I wonder if they are the same guy. Sakne..?

I've seen mx tracks on that before, and I wondered how they turned around/ got back. Not much room for error. Makes my hands sweaty just looking at the pictures...
