According to the 1.25 * inseam (in cm) + 65 formula I should be riding 182.5mm cranks. As I'm building a bike (with a rather high bottom bracket) from scratch I'd like to give longer cranks a try.

Have bought some parts for a SRAM drivetrain already. Apex 1 rear derailleur and an SRAM bar end shifter.

Bike is boost 148, 73mm BSA and I want 1x11. I have found the Deore XT FC-M8000-B1 (with the recommended BB-MT800 BB), which is available in 180mm. Could this be matched with the Apex 1 rear derailleur? Are there any other/cheaper options available?

There's no reason I can think of why that crankset wouldn't work.

I'd be wary of those formulas, many of them are dated. I have long legs and some of the crank length calculators put me at 185-190mm. I tried 180's and didn't get along with them. 170-175mm work best for me now
