OK, long story short.
Bought a Bontrager Race way back; it's a 94-95.
Rode the crap out of it for 10 yrs or so.
It looked like hell.
The dark purple powdercoat had faded to a dull, almost black.
Converted it into a SS this past year.
Looked at it after a hard ride while cleaning it.
Cracked drive side chain stay right by the anti-chain-suck mounting bosses.
Sent the frame to Paul Sadoff at Rock Lobster.
Got it back yesterday and built it back up.
I'll let the pix talk from here on.
BTW, I'm excstatic at how it turned out.

bandwagon

seems more and more (and more) of these old 'tragers are ending up as SS rides...
i may have to convert my privateer just to see what all the fuss is about.

bike looks good; not sure i've seen a purple one before.

Ya know, a 34-17 combo is the 'magic gear' for Bontragers. Lets you get away from using those silly chain tensionsers.

Nice looking bike too. Now take off that goofy chain thing-a-ma-bob!
