I was looking at the Line Pro 30 wheels and need to know if theyll work well with just tape instead of rim strips? From all the accounts I've seen its not possible to use DD or DH casing tires with the rim strip because you cant get the tire on.

I'm wondering if tape works and securely holds the bead as good as any other rim, I figure the rim bed might be smaller than normal rims to account for the thick rim strip.

Line Elite and Kovee Elites on my bikes are excellent with regular tape. Can’t see the Line Pros being any different. I’m not a fan of those strips.

I can confirm that regular rim tape (I used Stan’s) will work great in the Line Pro wheel. I’m running a DH casing DHR II on the same wheel on the back of my Fuel. Works great!

I'm using Line Pro 30's with Bontrager SE4/SE5 and Bontrager rim tape, works well for me.

I found DT Swiss rim tape works great, I like it better than Stan’s. I thought I heard the bontrager wheels are a dt Swiss design anyway.

The plastic thing they pin on there from the factory is completely unusable in my experience. The tire bead is so absurdly tight over the plastic strip, I had to use an xacto blade to cut the old tire off—there was zero chance of getting a tire lever in there. Works great with normal tape,

Regular tubeless tape is better. II have put a dh casing tire on a line pro 30 with the tlr strips. it was nearly impossible and an awful experience. i would suggest avoiding this scenario at all costs.

get any regular rim tape in place of the tlr strips. they are tough to mount tires and weigh more than tape. i've used wtb tape and gorilla tape without an issue. take that route

i just got one of the line pro fronts. i28. the plastic rm strip eats up a ton of room for mounting tires.


does removing affect warranty?


at the moment my tire is setup installed and i have no reason to change, but i did buy carbon to save weight. i assume an xtra 40g thats free to remove should someone want to.
