Bobcat Ridge trail closure/conditions.

800 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  brokefork
Starting tomorrow, 12-17-08, the north section of the Valley Loop Trail (north of the Power Line Trail) will have a seasonal closure due to nesting Golden Eagles. There will be no access to the cabin or the north restroom during the closure. The closure will be in effect until July 15, 2009. Rangers will monitor the nesting site and open the trail early if the eagles move to another location.

Please respect the closure.

Trail conditions as of today: All trails at Bobcat Ridge still have 3 to 5 inches of snow cover.

Thanks,

FCNA

Does that mean there are eagles there now?
Is it just closed to cyclists, or is the public allowed to walk the trail to view the eagles(assuming that wouldn't disturb them?)?

Eagles are in the area now.
The closure applies to everyone.
A great place to view the eagles is from the Powerline Rd (near the tepee rings). We are hoping to have a Master Naturalists with a spotting scope there on busy weekends (as weather permits).
Thanks for the reply, If you could keep us updated as to when the master naturalists are going to show up it would be much appreciated.
