I am just trying to get a list of what rear shock I can get for my 05 Blur Classic. I currently have a Progressive 5th Element and I am aware that they are out of business in the bike industry

7.875" eye to eye x 2" stroke
2006 Fox RP3
2007 Fox RP23

these are the only ones that i know of. Thanks for any help.

Santa Cruz was selling 5th Element Air shocks for $99 (unsure if they still have any left).
Are you satisfied with your 5th Air, or are you looking to try something different?
There are many shocks currently available in this size (both new and older models) from various manufacturers. Some of the models also available are:

Fox Float R and RL, in addition to the ones you listed. PUSH options available on Fox shocks.
Cane Creek Cloud 9 and AD-12
DT Swiss
Manitou S-Type, Swinger and Radium

I'm sure that someone else can add alot more available models and experiences to the list. I only have experience with the Fox Float R and RP3 and a 5th Element Air on my Blurs.

Add the Rock Shox Pearl to that list, and (not 100%) the Rock Shox MC3. I just put on an RP23 after my 5th died and love it. After riding my new Rock Shox Revelation 426 I would feel pretty confident about trying the Pearl as well.
I was wondering if you could give some more detail on how the 5th compared with the RP23? Thanks,

The Roco Air comes in 7.875"x2" and works amazingly well on my Blur 4x. It's way more plush and controlled than the 5th Air I had previously. There is a fitment issue that prevents access to the shock's air valve while mounted on the bike, but I don't really need to mess with air pressure and the shock holds air; I haven't had to refill it in 4 months of use.

There's a thread on the Shock forum about tuning bottom out and negative pressure on the shock.

Since I need to replace the shock bushing reducers for my Fox equipped Blur I asked Scott T. @ SC for information.

I'm not sure of the specific Fox part #'s, but here are the shock/bushing
sizes needed for the Blur series of frames -

Front Bushing Width * 22mm
Rear Bushing Width * 18mm

Mounting Bolt/Axle Diameter -
Front - 8mm
Rear - 10mm

*Blur Classic & Blur-4X Shock size - 7.875" eye to eye x 2" stroke

*Blur-LT shock size - 7.875" eye to eye x 2.25" stroke

*Blur-XC rear shock size varies depending on frame size.
- 7.875" x 2.0" for the Medium and Large sizes.
- 6.5" x 1.5" for the Small and Extra-Small sizes.

I picked up a Fox Float R XV (large volume canister) from SC on close out for $75 two months ago. Its on my 03 Blur Classic right now and its fantastic! Really compliant and plush in the initial travel. The propedal valving from SC was the 'light' setting.

Its also much easier to get full travel than it was with a smaller canister. For a smaller canister, I couldn't get full travel and at the same time have enough pressure to have the correct sag (I'm 170lb geared). Now i get the best of both worlds; great travel and feel all the way through.

If you set your sag at the recommended 20 - 25%, the VPP really is a great pedaler even with out the lock out lever.

Recommended!

Hi Benzology,

I just asked that few weeks ago.

Do you mean that none part of the frame crash with other part?

If you do not get more travel what benefit have you notice doing this replacment?

Please let us know more details. Some pics?
