I have owned a couple Blur Lt gen2's, a carbon, and an Xc as well as other Santa Cruz bikes.

The Blur's have all come with a "low factory compression and rebound tuned" fox rp23 shock. I believe is shock was specced for the blur to suit its leverage ratio of it's linkage. This of course makes for a very plush ride and almost bottomless feeling with love with the bike. This also means that turning on Pro Pedal makes not much difference at all, in fact you could get away with a standard float shock and get the same ride quality thanks to the awesome vpp2 linkage the bike has.

Except...

Sometimes I feel like I might want to stiffen up the rear shock via the pro pedal, much in the same way if the shock had a factory compression tune of medium. Now I am not saying firm as my nomad had a firm dhx air and i felt the shock performed like **** (on the bike).

So I am thinking of trying a 2012 Kashima rp23 if I can find one with a medium factory compression tune.

But then i was thinking about the Rockshox Monarch RT3 which can be had for much cheaper, has anyone run one of these? How does it compare to an RP23? does the Monarch have something similar to pro pedal? Or the factory compression tunes?
Could I flip a switch on the Monarch and stiffen up the rear?

Btw a Push tune is out of the question as I live in New Zealand

The monarch would be a good choice. But I am getting the feeling for out of the box performance you might want to grab the fox.

The Push boys have been doing wonders with the new RS shocks.
Wont push freight OS? Can you send your shock to AUS to get it pushed at Dirt Works?
