I've been using the Polar bluetooth one with my Droid X and its been great! I use RunKeeper for my running, toad biking and mountain biking. If you have any questions about it id be happy to answer them.

I keep mine in my pack and use the voice feedback for average pace and heart rate which works fairly well. You can configure to announce as HR increases or periodically based on distance, time etc..

I think the new SportsTrack release added elevation to the voice feedback.

Most of the GPS tracking applications have voice based feedback which can be configured for almost any event (HR zone change, time, distance, etc.).
The software that I have will let you configure the voice prompts for a specific time interval or distance or both. I listen to mp3s on the X and after so many minutes (usually 3) and distance (usually 1 mile) I'll get a voice prompt telling me my speed, ave speed, HR and ave HR. I'm not sure but you maybe able to configure alerts like if you hit a target HR.

polar on a droid with cardio trainer. It announces my HR and average pace. I wish there was one that had some sort of your going to die with that heart rate warning or something. It's really why I got it. I don't ride much and when I do I tend to push myself too much and I'm not 15 anymore..

I have been looking into the Zephyr + my Droid X and some reviews of bluetooth HRM's complain that they do not communicate well with the phone in the back pocket or backpack..so you all are not finding that to be true?

Thanks for input as I would really like to go this route as opposed to buying a Garmin unit.
