Ok so I never cared about this before, but i thought why not. I had knee surgery in early November so i knew i would be done for awhile. So I decided to tear my bike down and fully clean and lube and replace anything that needed it. Well i am going to start putting it back together and I want/need some new parts. The one thing i really need is a chain. Most of the other stuff is a want. Ok...so to the question. What do you think about adding some color. I have a matte black 575 and I want to add some gold accents. Give me some ideas on where and what parts would look nice...

It's ok to flame me up...if you like::madmax:

I thought about the gold Hope hubs. My only concern is will they keep their color? I mean i have only had black hubs and they can get pretty dirty. Will the gold ones become discolored?

My red Hope II hubs are a few years old by now, they still look like they did out of the factory.
Red is usually the color that fades fast, so I wouldn't worry about gold fading.

I personally would first purchase GOLD teeth!!!
You don't want people thinking your fake. Gold on your
bike is one thing but smiling gold takes it too the next level!

Quick question....do you want subtle bling? Or Rap Video Bling?

If you want a subtle bling to it...I suggest you go with gold nipples with black hubs...it looks way better IMO (totally personal taste). And go with just understated gold accents that will liven your bike up...like seat collar...they sell Ti bolts that are bright gold in color...those look cool...chainring bols for example, are nice looking in gold...KMC X9SL-TI chain is soo bling! For me, blinging of the little parts and bolts is what makes the difference.

If you wanna go the extreme way you can customize it with gold chainrings, cable housings, grips fro ODI, I think they do a gold version of their Ruffian lock on...gold hubs, gold bolts, chain, etc...you can go nuts! :)

www.purelycustom.com has a LOT of things you can customize!

I'm lookin for the new school Mr T bling not old school Mr T bling. I like the chainring bolts, seat collar, ODI clamps and maybe the hubs. And if I start feeling Lil' Johnish the KMC chain. No more then that...

I ride with a guy who has gold parts on his bike. The only thing about gold is there is a large variation in colors depending on who you buy your stuff from. Some of his parts look like 24k and some look like 14k. The 24k parts look orange and the difference is noticeable.

Raceface Atlas series handlebars... It will definitely brighten up your bike. I like the color, the graphics, width and sweep. Wish it's slightly higher rise though. But that's just me.
