Anyone here going to the 8-Hour race at Bogg's on 5/15? Should be a blast! Team Wrong Way will be out in force so come on out and challenge us (we've got like 30 people participating on various teams and solo). It's the most fun you'll have racing. The folks at Billy Cross Racing are really good people too. They don't make much money on these events but do it because they love it. So we really like trying to get a good turnout to their events, the 8-hour in particular.

We'll be there Saturday to pre-ride, camp (fo' free), have a big ol' potluck, and maybe get some s'mores going around the campfire too. Come join us! We're doing some fun custom number plates too. Check 'em out:

You can't miss out on this fun can you? Thanks and hope to see you there!

I should mention if you want to do this but don't have a complete team let me know as we may have some other people looking for a team.

The cool thing with the 8-hour is it gives you a taste of the longer endurance races but isn't nearly the commitment a 24 hour race is. Beginners are definitely welcome!

Thanks!

We have 2 so far, but will likely get 3-4 by the 15th. Should be a nice change of scenery from lake Sonoma. We have been hitting that 8hr for the last couple of years.

Yeah, the change of scenery will be nice. I love the Lake Sonoma course but it's always nice to ride other places. Hopefully it isn't so hot at Boggs.

With a 2 man team last year I vowed to never to do a 8 hour race in such Scorching Heat. All though we did place. But never in such heat. The year before was good.

Billy Cross is my favorite race series, and Lake Sonoma’s course is a lot of fun.

Have it at Boggs is going to be sweet. I was asked to do this race several months ago but already committed to 24. I am a little bit jealous.

Yeah, too bad the 24 hours at Laguna Seca is the same weekend - we've lost a few of our group who will be doing that. The last year I did it (1999) it was somewhere between 105-110 degrees at Lake Sonoma. Miserable heat but man it was a good time. I've never ridden Boggs so I'm excited about that.

Spread the word - free camping, good grub at the race (part of your entry fee), and a super fun atmosphere. Almost feels like a big party instead of a race. :D

I'll see ya' there...

...Look me up for the preride etc.

I'll be checking the coolers as you enter for proper refreshments!

Don't forget the Bike Sumo equipment for Saturday night.

There is lots of tree cover for most of the trails and the altitude will average about 3000ft so it should be comfortable...or raining! Snow is unlikely...

I was so excited to try the Bike Sumo at SOC but then was told of the shredded knuckles so I decided it wasn't for me. This is my preferred method of sumo. Nice big padded suits and padded wig. That's what we need so no degloving action.

Camping sounds sweet.

RE: Sumo
Even with those suits on you can get a bit jacked up. I plowed over one of my buddies and he came up with a split lip and spitting blood.

I sent a message yesterday to Billy Cross asking about the course, hopefully they'll respond shortly. The general consensus among the TWW group is that 5 people is too many for an 8-hour race. If you're having a hard time filling up teams, let me know as I've got a couple of spaces that need to be filled.

You SSing it? We've got an all SS team that will be out there. Can't wait!

Plans

well,

my team will be racing against Rumpfy's puny, girly team. no contest.

i might bring the SS, but if its wet i might revert to the geared bike. one on my team of three might race SS cuz he is tough and doesnt give an F.

really though, i aint going to race to win. i am going to ride some dope-a$$ trails with friends and drink beers in the woods.

hopefully it dries out in a week, weather this week is 100% suck, but next week should be not so wet or possibly sunny and good.

...it's mostly been sprinkling up here ( Boggs is in the rain shadow of Cobb mt.)
There was a short heavy rain weds...but not enough to soup it up.
Ball cap has a short swamp but this is a normal thing...won't dry up till june.
The bulk of the trails are ripe for hook-up...I'm using 2.5 wierwolf front and 2.4 Moto in the back with about 22-25 psi you get some nice drift on the hard pack but they still hang on the soft berms!

I may have Ken set the course on the new 2 mile section of Gails so we can bed it in!

See ya' when ya' get here...
