Biking Groups??

Greetings fellow riders! The days are getting brighter and longer and my regular biking group is disintegrating. I'm looking to find a chill group of people to ride with. I'm in my early 40's and love to ride the Front Range trails, along with Moab, Fruita, Monarch Crest, etc. I have ridden solo many times in the past but as we get older it becomes more important to have at least one companion with you just in case, and it would be nice to have other options when the people in my regular group don't ride (work schedule, injuries, flakyness, etc)

I don't ride with anything to prove, but like to always try to improve my technical riding even if it means several attempts. I'm not the slowest rider, but not the fastest one either. I can hold my own on most technical riding. I know there are lots of groups full of hot shots that treat every afternoon ride as a race and leave their companions behind. It would be nice to meet up with some people who enjoy ALL aspects of the ride - the weather, being outside away from the grind, the social aspect, the connection with the trail, etc.

Anyone taking applications, or have any suggestions and whom to contact? Craigslist is spotty on groups, and my next step would be to contact some of the LBS

Thanks Guys!

Where are you? We meetup in Lyons at 6pm for night rides weekly on Tuesdays. We'll start doing 5:30 after DST. It's a fit and skilled group but full of positive attitudes and we don't leave anyone behind. Our primary focus is having a good time. :) Might be a good opportunity to see some of the lesser known rides in the North country, too.
Ooops - forgot to mention I'm in Denver. Thanks for the suggestion, ignazjr! I will definitely contact your shop as soon as riding season gets into motion
Hey
I am in the same boat as you.. early 40's, don't care to race anyone up a hill but certainly not the slowest guy on the planet. I have been riding 20+ years. Love DHing as well and live in NW Denver. I am a teacher and off in the summer always looking for people to ride with. I have kids 1/2 time so my schedule is a litttle different...
You guys should try Jeffco mountain bike club, also know that there is a meetup (Denver meetup.com) mountain bike club. These are mellow clubs, mellow riders, just out there to have a good time and ride.

If you give me your email address I can get you on a list of a friend whom puts together weekly rides. Great folks and not into racing up hill, just be ready to have fun and a few beers afterwards :)
Thanks BikerGal! I will get you that info, and please join in Billybobzia - it's always great to ride with new people!
Here is the link for the Meetup group that bikergal mentioned: http://www.meetup.com/mountainbikes-108/

There are also Lakewood and Boulder groups. If you're not familiar w/Meetup, the organizer pays $150 to run the group, so they usually charge members $1 per ride.

You might check out www.RMBB.org. A friendly bunch of guys who do weekend and holiday trips, as well as frequent day trips to the foothills near Denver.
Join in on the TITS rides here with this forum.
Many Thanks!

Thanks to all for the suggestions! You'll be hearing from me (and maybe a couple other people I ride with) very soon -

Look forward to meeting up and riding with you!

I couldn't find anything on the Jeffco mtb club. Do you happen to have a link?
