My wife and I are looking for an overnighter at a campground that we can mountain bike into.
She would prefer something like Edna Creek (has to have a bathroom!).
Anyone know of somewhere we can park the Jeep and ride in about 10-15 miles or so and set up camp?

I've looked for trails leading in to the campgrounds, but I'm coming up empty.

You could park at Granite Crk paved lot off of Rabbit Crk Rd Approx 3 mi past Idaho City. Up and over down to Barber Flats would be about 12 mi. At Rabbit Summit you could stay on the dirt road or go to the right down to Meadow Crk, go past the corralls about 5 more miles and take a single track called Short Cr. down to within 4 mi. of Barber Flats. That trail on a Mtn bike would be a oneway. Its an old trail from the Idaho City 100 motorcycle race. You could take it down and ride the dirt road back up.. Tim

this would be a long ways from idaho city. but you wouldn't be sharing the campground with vehichls. Fish lake in the clearwater national forest. You would go out of the north fork of the clearwater by cedars campground. hoodoo pass area. there is a nice alpine lake with a double track into it. roughly 6 miles of uphill. set up camp and go explore.
I have done that trip a few times. and there is an outhouse there.

sounz like fun

here's a few other options:

a little further beyond Edna creek are the Banner Ridge/Gold Fork yurts with some decent riding in a non-motorized setting and nearly all the comforts of home: state parks and rec.

north and middle fork of the Boise river have campgrounds. Tim22 is directing you to the north fork of the Boise river via usfs road and moto trail and back via the Rabbit crk/Granite crk road.

Bear Valley has options: Boundry Crk./Dagger Falls (Middle Fork Salmon put-in) and Bear Valley Creek/Fir Crk. campgrounds.

Sage Hen reservoir is nice.

Cozy Cove at Deadwood reservoir is really nice (spent a summer in the Deadwood.)

east of Cascade there are options around Warm lake and the south fork of the Salmon north to Poverty Flat, with riding around there and a myriad of hot springs if you can find them.

I'm sure theer's more places, but this should give you an idea of some of the potential.

post your ride if you get around to doing something.

Boise Jim: What did you end up doing for a bikepacking trip? Anything? If so, post up. I was thinking of a bikepacking trip last year but didn't pull the trigger. If there's a nice route, let us know ;)
