Hey guys,

I have a question about transporting my bike today. I store my bike in my room at college and am making the hour and a half drive back to my house for Christmas break today. Is there any problem with taking my bike out of my room which is like 70 degrees F and strapping it on top of my car for the drive home (it's 19 degrees outside). Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to make sure haha.

by strap ur bike to the top of your car, i hope you have a car rack... lol
and remember to remove all accessories. Removing the seat/seatpost will make ur bike more aerodynamic too (although negligibly)

as for the temp change, nothing's going to happen from 70-19

I would remove my seatpost, but that is what I strap the twine around to hold my bike onto the hood.. just kidding. lol Yes I have a car rack. 'Strap' wasn't the right word I suppose haha. I bought the roof rack this summer and hadn't used it during the winter yet so I wasn't sure if it was bad for my bike frame or my front fork.

I hadn't thought to remove my seatpost though, I'll do that next time.

well unless u dont really care about your mpg. a bike on the roofrack already lowers ur fuel efficiency a lot, its just something i would do thats quick and easy to help out the mpg a little
I've driven 5k plus miles with my bike on a roof rack and my mpg was the same with or without the seatpost. Is that a trunk rack in your avatar? Another brilliant post louisssss!!!!!!!!!

You're making statements that are contrary to applied physics.
