Bike to work day - tomorrow 6/24

Who's participating?
Riding Mtn bike? Road? Cross?
How far is your commute?
How often do you commute?

I'll be riding my road bike.
16+ miles one way - mainly Clear Creek bike path on the way in, 32nd on the way home, and probably a side trip up Lookout.
Probably average only 1/month - trying to increase that to 1/week.

Be careful everyone - watch out for p!ssed off drivers, and be on your best behavior!

I'm still trying to decide. I average about 3 days/wk riding the Platte River trail up from Mineral to downtown. Bike to Work Day is amateur hour with a lot of people doing a lot of stopping right on the trail. Be careful out there.
riding down from east mag, 22 miles, 8 miles of singletrack, some road, boulder creek path from 4 mile, bike paths out to gunbarrel.

True, but there's free food!!
I will be participating. I think I will take my full sus since the trail will be crowded and I won't be able to go to fast. My commute is 12 miles long - Monoco to the Cherry Creek trail to 16th. I take my bike in at least 4 days a week, will most likely leave a little early to take full advantage of all the treat stops.

I think I'm hitting it for sure... I believe I'll be taking BCT out towards Green Mountain then around the C470 path to work near Colorado Mills. I'll probably go roadie bike style, no sense in pedalling fat knobbies and nearly 6" of suspension for ~15 miles. Commute after work will be down to Cherry Creek to see the Railbender's play at Elway's about 6 p.m.
Ah, the Tour De Breakfast.

It's how many stations can you hit on your route! Also, whether you can find the best ones. Nooby, have you hit the station with the painting company/chocolate company and cake person on Gunpark (just west of CP+G)? They have one of the best. Premier Credit union usually has great breakfast burritos.

I ride every day. It's good to see all the people out. But if it wasn't for the breakfast stations, I wonder how many would ride.

I just wish more of these people would stick with it for at least the whole summer.

That said, Boulder has a great number of daily bike commuters.

Also, if you missed it, Watch out for these characters on the ride. See if you can find all 6.

thanks for the tip Rich! That's right across the street.
Tomorrow will probably be the only day I don't ride to work. Gotta run some errands at another site across town. Otherwise, I consistently commute to work 4 times a week on a rigid single speed 29er with 32x20 gearing. It's a little over 7 miles one way and has a 680 ft elevation difference between home and work, although I'm curious to see what the net gain is because of the ridge line/path profile. Typically it takes about 30 min to work and 36 min on the way home +/- 1.5 minutes depending on light cycles and wind direction. It's quite appealing to ride considering it takes me ~17 minutes to drive to work and 20-45 minutes to drive home with traffic.

I'm with Lidarman though. Commuting is good stuff and I wish more people would partake on non-RTW days. Having showers certainly adds to the appeal, but not having them shouldn't rule out commuting to work. Just take the pace a little slower and don't make the mistake of commuting on a single speed or fixed gear, which are my two sweat producing commuter bikes.

I haven't ridden to work since March...I've been slacking. But right now my road bike doesn't have front brakes so I'll just use my hard tail.

I would bike to work... if I worked. :p
Psssh... like raising kids isn't work! I don't envy your "job" one bit, my friend. As such, BTWD for you should be putting all the chitlins in a Burley trailer and doing laps up the Green Mtn fire road pulling them!
If I had a job I would participate for sure.
I'll walk to the basement as usual.
I'm not riding to or from work tomorrow, too many yahoos - my commute is 28 miles by road, but lately I've been stretching it closer to 42 (48 last night) - with a good 70% or so on dirt, with somewhere between 3 and 6k ([email protected]$# GPS) of climbing, coming from Evergreen. I've nearly achieved commuting nirvana.

I call it "The Evergreen Eviscerator" :D

And suddenly, just like that, I feel like a complete weakling for even breathing hard on my commute.
