so after riding for 3 and a half hours (with a 20 min break in between) i decided i need a new seat that is more comfortable then the one i currently have (stock 04 specilized rockhopper) any suggestion or websites?

i dont know what kind of seat your bike came with, but my suggestion is the specialized body geometry line of saddles for mt bikes. a couple riding buddies reccomended it, and i agree with them.

well, i think i have my mind set on the specialized avatar seat, but i was wondering if it was worth spending $75 dollars on a seat if it will work? if not, what woud your suggest?

I spent a lot more than $75 on my seat, and yeah, it's worth it. You might also look into WTB and Selle seats. Both make extremely light and comfortable saddles.

One more vote for the Specialized Avatar. It's not comfortable as in "soft" but is comfortable as in "I don't get any aches and pains after a few hours XC".

thanks yall, i ended up getting a bg2 sport saddle from specilized for $30, and used to money i saved to get a multi tool and a patch kit as well as a frame mounted pump (as you know those are very important if one didn't already have them whihc i didn't), and my mom bought me a pair of fox biking baggy shorts with padding in them for you butt while we were there

I'm gonna make a suggestion that you may snicker at... but I'm telling you, it is THE MOST comfortable saddle out there bar none...

millions of roadies can't be wrong... well, yes they COULD actually...but not on this point! Besides, Sheldon Brown will back me up.
