Random bike-related pics I took while touring around Japan. Someone please notify me if beer is ever deemed non-bike-related.

Why can't we have nice things too? The car-park was half-empty.

Gyoza is magical in Utsunomiya, with some nice hot sake.

$8 Guiness in Matsumoto. At least the clover pour was a nice touch.

Just a short time later, a hand-pulled Yona Yona Pale Ale, from Nagano Prefecture. Oishii...

To be fair this was in a really quite park section. The whole park was not off limits.

Easily eclipsed by this Baird Barleywine from their American BBQ and public taproom.

Bring me back a bottle
I'm already back. I considered bringing a bottle back for Francois, the Ubeerlord, but I realized the odds of it surviving the first several moments in my possession were about zero, so I didn't take the time to go by the pub on the way to the station.

I drank a bunch of that Yona Yona in 12 oz cans. I've been looking for a source of it here, but no luck so far. It was very drinkable. Like SNPA, but way smoother. The hand-pulled pints were yummy. I had two of those, even though they were about $8.

Since I've been back, I've been renewing my love affair with Lagunitas Sucks and, even better, Undercover Shutdown. Oishii...

Good stuff from the Far east.
Brings back great memories.
I went twice, a Loooooonnnngg time ago.
My good friends wife is from Yokohama and they go twice a year.
All I hear about is bikes and beer.
Big sigh.

Perhaps now you can answer me this? What is a Pocari, and why would I want to drink its Sweat?
Hmm. Good question. Let's ask Wiki: Pocari Sweat - Wiki

Calpis is another one. There's a link in the Pocari Sweat page.

Thank's Ed.

I take it you didn't partake in the sweat drink?

I got a laugh out of that stuff when I was there for six weeks back in 99'. I definitely want to go back when my daughter is a bit older and will begin to understand/appreciate the value of travel and difference between the cultures.

Thanks for sharing the images.
