I've seen a ton of posts with people mounting lighter bikes on motorcycles, but I'm wondering if anyone has done it with a DH bike? I'd like to be able to mount a DHR on my R1. If anyone has any pictures of racks that could accomplish this that would be awesome.

I think he's talking about a bike rack on a motorcycle. I have seen a few here and there. Mostly on BMW's and big Harley's.

Actually, this month's Decline mag has a photo of Chris Van Dine's Harley with 2 DJ bikes on it.:eekster:

Being a guy with a motorcycle and no car, I have thought about it, but never seemed to need it since I live right behind a mountain. I may have to look into it though since I moving in a couple weeks, and don't think I'll be able to afford a car anytime soon.

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear in the OP. I want to mount a downhill bike on a sportbike. I was thinking about some sort of ghetto rigged trailer but I'm a little worried about the trailer sliding sideways in a corner and making me lowside. Sounds like I'll have to keep using a car.

C'mon, it's not that big of a deal - after all, you could carry a passenger back there that weighs a lot more than any downhill bike. It can be done. It's probably not worth doing if you have to pay someone else to do the machining and welding, but if you can design and build it yourself, then I say go for it.

On a cruiser style bike..not that big of a deal i guess, but on an R1...come on, where are you going to mount it, you cant do it on the sides, you will tag something for sure when you corner, and its going to have ride pretty darn high and unstable on the rear.....just sayin

I called ride SFO because they had them on their site, I called on may 21st and spoke with a Grant, he said they would be instock in a day or so, so i left him my name and number, but never heard anything. That is one sick helmet!

I also want to do this, i've got a ~38lb DH bike so weight isn't an issue. I ride an 09 Triumph Street Triple R, and i've thought many times about making a bike rack and/or trailer. I agree that the rack seems like the safer idea, while the trailer seems like the more elegant idea.
