You should go the custom route. They might not cost as much as you think. Look into a 29er while your at it.

Giant - appropriately enough...

If you are on a relatively low to medium budget, there are quite a few hardtail models with 23" frames available from Giant. I'm about 3" shorter than you and have a 21" model.

Though nice, those are quite spendy. I have a new steel custom with an eccentric bottom braket and d. hanger for only $800. You could score a custom full suspension with a Ventana rear end for less than the Seven.

I guess the biggest question is, whats your budget?

Well this is actually for a friend. Its to replace an XL Santa Cruz Chameleon, so it has to be relatively high end. At least XTC, Stumpjumper HT or higher. Any good manufacturers build XXL frames?

If your friend considers fs botique frames, Turner makes a Sasquach version of the 5 Spot. I tried one owned by a friend who's ~6'5 and they are plenty big and I have a 38.5" true inseam.

what does fisher offer? i looked at their site and it seems to only have up to the normal 21" XL size.

his xl is pretty big due to the genesis geometry. it's worth checking out. plus gary himself is a very tall guy.
