I have a Crateworks box. I haven't used it yet and I may have to take the tyres off to fit the wheels in (may just get away with deflating them). It's corrugated plastic and is lighter and cheaper than most hard cases. Looks like it will definitely stand up to a few foreign trips though.
I have a trico iron case (purchased before I had the 29er) and I recenty put my XL Karate Monkey (w/ Reba removed) in the box just to make sure it fits. No problem.

17" El Capitan fit in a Serfas case with fork removal & partially deflating both tires.
My crateworks fits either of my bikes with tires deflated and bars removed.

I really like the crateworks bixes. Very affordable and seem to hold up really well. They're also very roomy....enough so that I can usually get my shoes, helmet, camelback and riding clothes in with the bike.

www.crateworks.com . They don't ship overseas but they do have a UK importer. I can't find their web address but an email to Crateworks will get it for you. I think I paid £150ish for mine. Anothe plus for the Crateworks is you can dismantle it and store it flat.
