Hey, I am moving to Japan for a year, and I need a bike box to transport my Santa Cruz Bullit. It has a dual crown manitou fork, and I have heard I need a downhill bike box, not just a regular one. My questions:
1. What is a good dh bike box?
2. Does a dh bike box also fit cross country bikes?
3. Should I be looking for straps inside the box or are those just gimmicky?
4. Any other advice for traveling the world with a bike?

the box I use for my DH bike came from a Giant Revive (sort of recumbent bike). It's huge, didn't have to remove my fork or rear tire. Just removed hb,stem and front wheel, stuffed them down beside the bike. I even had room in the box for all my gear (armour, helmet, shorts, jerseys, shoes, etc.)

Take a look at one of these bike cases from Tri Sports. Internal dimensions are quoted. The company is also very helpful. I re-located from Europe to the USA and spoke to them. They asked me for dimensions to check if my bike would fit.
