So there I am cruising along on a side trail to Trail 100 and whammo... the bottom falls out.
Six year old Specialized Stumpy Expert... six years almost exactly...guess if I washed it more, I would have nocticed the cracks...
Note that this involved BOTH chainstays!

I would disagree with you, but only for a road bike. My current road bike is 10 years old and going strong.

But the previous two mountain bikes I had were only good for about five years apiece.

that sucks dude!!! im sure you can get a replacement rear from spec.
