use a ruler... measure the distance from the insides of the seatstays and the distance of the chainstays, figure out which one is smaller and deduct about a 1/4 inch... that is your max tire size.
Different tire companies use different methods for measuring their tires... so if you want to be perfectly safe I suggest taking off a 1/2 inch instead of a 1/4 and use that as a guide (but a 1/4 should be good enough).
