Except Rudy. All those other guys are jerks, though.

My USPS team member seems to have a problem with DR. They've not been able to deliver it to me in a very timely fashion.

Then Brad went and tore his biceps (which I'm sure he did just so he didn't have to deal with me emaling and whining about not receiving my subscription), so I've been forced to go out and ride a whole bunch rather than sitting around the houuse watching porn and eating Cheetos. It really sucks.

In the spirit of the MTBR Ultralord, I put the Retro on a fairly significant diet. Due to a run in with a parking garage, I had to replace my seatpost and handlebars. I chose to do so with carbon fiber instead of AL. I also pulled off the heavy assed, albeit beefy and stiff, Profile cranks and replaced them with a Shimano LX splined drive. I then went and took off the Crossmax XL wheelset and replaced them with a set of Speed Dream wheels. So that sucks too. You know, having a lighter bike.

Talk about the suckiest suck that ever sucked: I've been riding a lot on a much lighter bike on some ripping singletrack. Poor me. How are things with you?

Actually it's a picture of Allroy. His ugly mug shows up 3 times in that issue: Table of contents, the B&W pic and one w/ the glow stix at the Midwest fest!

My subject line is a stolen bit of philosophy taken from the Dali-Hoosier (pork chop) and is best read with the country twang that permiates the Ohio River dialect. Light bikes (like sissy Ti singlespeeds) and plush Turner 4 bar duallies are the foundation of everything that is sick and wrong in Uh-murika today. And before you all get 'up in arms' about me dissing Ti ss's and Turners, let me tell you that I ride both and I just recently was at a Mountain Bikers Annonmous Meeting where Ken stood up and told a tale of unbridled bike lust that ironically started with a trip to Over the Edge Cycles in Fruita, where he too, bought another bike, he didn't neccesarily need (Turner 5-spot), but in a veiled attempt to be more like me, he bought it anyway. Me = sick and wrong. So, in a nut shell, that's how I've been, Ken ,ole man, Sick and wrong, but you knew that allready. On top of all that, I've been ride'n my arse off (all the while) breaking sh1t, like there's no tomorrow. I'm allegedly training for some 12 and 24 hour races that will team me up with Ernesto, my oldest son Al and the beautifull and demure Bethany, among others. Not all at the same time, cuz that would be too simple. We plan on heading down to wallow in the Bonk-Fest foam with a sizable group of riders from our group of temperate, civilised and clean-cut cult of singlespeeders that will be cleverly disguised as a group of foul mouthed inbred twisted depraved sh1t-focks. I look forward to our next choir practice.

sumana beatch. You have a Turner and a Ti SS? You're a FRREEEAAAAAK. No where near the upstanding citizen that I am. I after all, have a steal SS and a brand new (literally) out of the box 5-Spot. Everyone knows that the proper bike combination is steal SS and a Turner.

I received it yesterday at work, rubbed the box back and forth rapidly until I finally brought it home. I had stuff to do last night, so I built the durn thing up starting around 9:30 or so. Finished most of the build up around midnight or so and got up this morning for my normal SS ride.

Went over at lunch to a friend's house to check fit. He's a professional (salaried) bike mechanic, fit specialist, pro racer (he is part of a 4-man team that recently earned a bronze medal at the NORBA 24-hour Championships in WA) and all around good guy. He brought out a protracter and starting checking my set up. A few minor (or Miner, HA!... god I kill me) adjustments later and my bike is 99% done (still haven't cut the steerer tube until I get a ride or two underneath me). So here's the kicker....

My friend mentions that his bike is down right now, he has the day off and a Blue Healer puppy that wants to run trail all day long. He was planning on riding his cross bike with his dog. I offered up my newly built 5-Spot for his riding pleasure. After much cajoling, I finally managed to convince him that I was really and truly OK with him taking the bike.

So right now, my brand new Turner 5-Spot is out ripping up some singletrack and I'm choking (wolfing, actually. I'm hungry as hell) down a McDonald's cobb salad. Did I mention that he's a good friend?

Anyhew....

This year's B-fest has a fly in the ointment for me. It turns out that Frank Tuesday's apron strings are wound really tight around his figs. It turns out that he's getting married on the Bonktoberfest weekend. Since he prances around in a dress at home while the future Mrs. Tuesday calls the shots, he wasn't able to reschedule the wedding..... so I may not be attending the annual Hillbilly ride gala.

However (there's always a but, no?), a mountain biker getting married obviously means a bachelor ride. Keep this between you and I, but I'm angling to bring a bunch of drunken jerkoffs from KC up to some lame-o Gnomefest up near where you live. Have you heard of this event? I heard the guy organizing it rides a Ti SS, which we all know automatically makes him sick and wrong right out of the gate.

hey yeah. any feedback on that would be nice. i am trying to improve my righting. it's a little dry from writing scientific stuff.

in other news, if you see the article you will see my real name. I just learned today that I share the same real last name as a well-known male porn star, perhaps the most well known EVER.
Do you know who I am talking about? I am quite proud!

Although I'm not a porn star, perhaps you and I are related? We seem to have some things in common.

How 'bout the pic of the Pimp himself sliding over the "steps" at the Chubb Trail in STL?

Check Pg 122 Bottom corner.

Fully rigid, for her pleasure.

I resemble that. "I've never been better nor cared less!" how can you improve on that? Its the perfect attitude for a MTB weekend. It is not the correct greeting for your boss on Monday morning however. A simple "Hello Dammit!" is preferred for the big chief. I was just thinking that by this time last year I had hooked up with the Lake and Raven twiced for a weekend of riding. My trail riding time is down and I've even been giving the $5 schwinn a workout on the road lately. I'm even considering communting. What the hell? Looking forward to seeing you and all of the KC kids (who don't have something BETTER to do) this fall.
