Beware of the seller "Xtreme Bike&Sport" on ebay..

Hello friends!

I wanted to warn everyone.

I ordered a new Reba (Item number: 120307768054) from Doug (dana67301) at Xtreme Bike&Sport on ebay. Then I realized I ordred the 26" instead of the 29er model. I emailed Doug and he said he'd be happy to cancel it (as he wouldn't have the 29er for several weeks). Well, the charge is still on my Paypal account. I emailed Doug, and all he had to say is that it was shipped.

He couldn't even provide a UPS/FedEx tracking number.

I have saved all the email correspondence.

How about beware of "thesenator" who made the initial mistake and ordered the wrong product?

I'm sure you will get it all worked out in the end - no matter how much short term frustration you are feeling at the moment. I checked his store and he does have a return policy:

Item must be returned within:

7 Days

Refund will be given as:

Money Back

Return shipping will be paid by:

Buyer

No need to dish him for your mistake. I'm banking on him taking care of you - although it looks like you will be out return shipping for your mistake. After all, he's not the one who ordered the wrong product - so why should he pay for the return shipping costs?

BB

Better yet: MODS - let's close this thread down and remove it. Why trash an honest eBay store with the thread title used for this topic for a buyer's simple mistake?

BB, let me clarify a few things.

I ordered and cancelled the same day. The item was never shipped. I got an email from Doug stating he cancelled the order.

This has been going on since October 15th. If Doug wanted to resolve the issue, I don;t think it would take him two months...

Thanks for your (ablbeit sarcasm laden) support!:)

You didn't give the full details. October 15th and he just now says it shipped? Did he ship the 26" or the 29" version? Have you phoned him?

Have you taken this up with eBay/PayPal?

Sure, I may have jumped on your mistake with an aggressvie/sarcastic tone. My apologies for that and I hope it all turns out in your favor with the resolution. He's got pretty good ratings on his profile (99.7% positive for 2,291 transactions). So I'm sure he'll want to make good with you...

I bought a 2009 Reba SL 29er from him with no problem. I'd file a complaint with Ebay/Paypal (about a month ago). Good luck.
I got fudged by a slime ball seller one time from Utah on a clearly misrepresented product. NOT COOL! I can sympathize. Obviously different circumstances but I can certainly appreciate your frustration.

Best of luck with your conflict resolution,

PF

I know someone else that played "the forks in the mail" game with this guy for three weeks.in the end he made good...
Its nice to see bruce going to bat for a fellow 29er........
Just an FYI...

When you buy something on ebay, the seller has to pay ebay their portion of the sale, whether it's auction or buy it now, then when you paid through paypal, the seller gets a portion taken out by paypal, so he got stuck with 2 pretty large fee's that he doesn't get back no matter what goes on between you two.

My take on things and following ebay protocol (I sell and buy on ebay), you ordered the wrong thing and he should swap out to a 29er when he has one available, if there is a price difference he can reimburse you the difference, but I see no reason that he should return your paypal payment, you did go into a ebay agreement to purchase an item.

Good luck and I hope it works out for both of you. Also emails can be misconstrued? When he stated he canceled the order did he just me for the 26er and you had to wait for the 29er?

What you should be following up on is the shipment delay and the lack of a 29er fork in your hands, calling would be bet and if needed use the paypal and ebay (ebay owns paypal) resolution channels, they are pretty quick to assist on issues

He should refund your money, less the ebay/paypal fees that he is required to pay.

The ebay fees have been increased so that on a fork that sells for $300 he's already paid out around $45 for the sale. That's not his fault and he shouldn't cover the fees, but he certainly should send back the rest of the money or send you a 29er fork.

Good luck - Hope it works out!

Not totally true. If the seller and buyer communicate the buyer can get a refund and the seller can get a Final Value Fee credit. I've done it twice. All you have to do is the buyer opens a case with the Resolution Center, you both come to an agreement on how to close it (buyer sends fork back, seller refunds money), everyone is happy. I just did one, got a full refund from PayPal and I assume the seller got their Final Value Fee credit.

See http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/credits.html
BWG; Doug at Xtreme did say he'd cancel the order. I didn't look my Paypal account again until the charge appeared on my CC.
It's pretty common to charge the customer at the time of their order, even if the item is backordered. Think of it as a deposit. We've all been awaiting the 29er version of that fork and they're coming available now, so if you don't get satisfaction soon, then I'd make a fuss.

Have you tried calling him? Has all communication stopped?

I'll explain it for you. Once the dispute on the item has been closed (or in the event of a refunded item), the buyer will get a full refund. The seller will get Final Value Fee Credit, Relist Fee Credit, and Paypal fee will be erased. So if the seller refunds the money like this, the seller isn't out any money.

Are you explaining it to me, or the OP?
You bought the wrong fork, a 26, you want a 29 which are now becoming available. Sit back and trade the fork for the 29.

Dont go through the ebay resolution hassle unless you just dont want to deal with him, which is pretty shady since you did buy the wrong one to begin with. It really sounds simple. Just trade for the 29. I am sure he will work with you, dont air this out here, trade or take it up with the resolution center.

He has no 26 fork to trade. But I agree he should try to work it out with the seller rather than with people who cannot do anything about his problem.

No Problems with the Seller

I bought one of his Buy it Now Reba SL 29er forks for 399 plus the 20% live.com discount. So I got a nice deal on the fork, or so I think.

From what it appears, he did not have the fork in stock, but ordered it from BTI or some distributor when I bought it. It took him 3-4 days to ship it which seems the case with several online shops. Once shipped, the fork arrived promptly. I am happy with my experience and would recommend this ebayer.

Sorry to have heard about your experience. Hopefully things will get resolved.

X2, good luck with it, dont' give in!
Buy from your LBS, then you will not have a problem and someone will always be there when you need them. They may be able to match the price or get in the ball park.
I dealt recently with a wheelbuilder who failed to deliver (at all), but also drags making the refund for weeks, even months. It's a friggin' click on the payment request.

Also in global business-to-business, everyone now seems to make its cash flow the problem of their suppliers (30, 60, 90 days payment terms). Make it someone else's problem before it becomes yours.

I just hate people who sit on other people's bike money.
