They're probably both good wheelsets for the money and specs but BWW sponsors this forum (up top o' this page) and will stand by their wheels and from the four sets of BWW wheels that have passed through my hands I can tell ya that they're built with care, using proper building techniques.

After 1000 miles of riding, I managed to ruin my OEM Bontrager Ranger wheels on the trails around State College.

I'm looking for something that's relatively inexpensive, yet still durable and somewhat lightweight. And preferably black (or white, too. No silver.)

What I've found so far:
Sun Rhyno Lite/XT hubset: http://www.bicyclebuys.com/item/0509210

Mavic 317/XT hubset: http://www.bicyclewheelwarehouse.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=45
I have a cheap Sun Rhyno Lite / XT Disk wheel like the one you described on my cruiser Tandem. They're not somewhat lightweight, but they should last you forever as long as you check the tension on them and tighten and stress relieve them right away. (I got mine at performance and they were built pretty loose.)

If you can pony up about 50 percent more you should be able to get a great deal on XT / Mavic 717 wheels. These are very light -- I bought two sets of these for my wife and daughter's bikes. Should be strong, because the rims have eyelets but neither my wife nor daughter will stress a bike very much, thankfully.

My guess is that the Sun Rhyno Lite wheels will be pretty difficult to ruin, so if you don't care so much about light weight go with these.
