Just got a lightly used SiD SL but there is an area on the crown with the paint rubbed off from cable rub. Its not a huge deal, but if I wanted to do a quick and easy touch up whats the best way to go about it? I was planning on masking the area well...scuffing the existing paint and spraying some satin black paint and hitting the area with a satin clear coat. I also thought about plastic-dip paint...whuch is cool because it peels off and you can repaint or touch up again. I could disassemble the fork completely and then strip and repaint the crown but thats a lot more work. I cant be the first one to wanna repaint a fork, so looking for ideas on what do do. Here is the fork.

Trim your cables and organize them so they don't rub. Ride your bike. Deal with it at the next complete service.

Update for anyone that may stumble across this post looking to do something similar. I went to AutoZone and got a can of VHT Chassis and Roll bar paint. I taste scraped something and the match was near IDENTICAL. SO I carefully masked the fork and sprayed a light coat, let dry and then a heavier coat. BAM...looks like new. The match was so good you cant tel that I didnt paint the entire section. Got the fork for $400 so I dont mind doing a few cosmetic things to make it look new. I also have a fresh set of decals from Silk Graphics in black and gloss raspberry to match my frame. Now to find a replacement knob for the Brain Fade adjustment that was missing.

Need to find a replacement knob for the Brain Fade adjustment...Specialized doesnt have them...and SRAM is next to impossible to get in touch with directly...Specialized did give me the part number...11.4418.017.000. Im wondering if pretty much any know with a set screw will work....

An older Fox threshold(blue) knob would work well with slight modification. SRAM doesn't stock or sell ANY Brain parts. If Specialized doesn't have it, you'll be looking at dealers or used.

If you haven't used Slik before, you'll be impressed. Their stuff is nice.
