Hey guys. I'm running WTB Motoraptor 2.4's right now, and its killing me.... I love these tires when its dry out, but if its muddy, they don't cut it. The mud around here is really sticky, and sometimes when I hit a patch of it, I have half an inch of mud stuck to my tires within 10 feet... This is not good when you only have about that much tire clearance in the first place. So whats the best tire when it comes to shedding (but still gripping) really sticky mud? Thanks for any suggestions. I'd like to stick with something around 2.4 ish in front, but I could be persuaded to go smaller in back. thanks.

Maxxis Medusa 1.55 (discontinued).

If the mud is sticky you need to go narrow for frame/fork clearance.

Also like the Schwalbe Black Shark Mud 2.1 and Bonty Mud X 2.0.

Try some of the narrower Michelin tires - I have had good luck with their silica-based compounds, and the "pyramid" shaped knobs. That knob shape tends to pull less mud up with it when the tire leaves the ground, reducing the amount of mud that clings. I've heard good about the IRC Serac also, and Spec has a Storm Pro that may work good too - but have not tried it. Let us know what you find. Is this CA Clay that you are in down there?
