I'm looking for a more aggresive DH Freeride rig than my Tracer.

I'll use it for hammering the technical stuff around where I live (OrangeCounty) and my trips to the ski resorts...Mammoth & Big Bear.

I was in Mammoth last week and I saw millions, literally millions of Bullits. That was like the bike of choice of up there! Are they that goood!

So what is the difference between all the highend Santa Cruz bikes....not really familiar with them cuz I own Intense bikes.

Thanks!

Bullit is Beefier than the Heckler (about 1 pund and more travel)
The difference with the Bullit and VP-Free is that the Bullit is a Single Pivot Bike and the VP-Free has the new Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) rear suspension.

Go to Santa Cruz web site and read about the VPP. There is also a VP-Free review in the July issue of the Mountain Bike Action magazine.

My first choice for DH/Freeriding bike would be VP-Free (the ultimate fun bike). The second choice would be Bullit. If you want a trailbike that can also be used for ligh free riding, then choose Heckler.

You can also use the search on this forum and look for Heckler, bullit and VP-Free topics.

From a Tracer the heckler with a 5th and 5.75" of rear wheel travel would be a logical upgrade. It would get you more travel and a far more robust ride than the tracer. It would work well with most of the long travel single crown forks as well. I run my 5" rear travel with a 5" Z1 freeride and can run just about anything that a full dh rig can.

The bullit may be a bit too big of a jump. It is basically suited for entry level dh and freeride. It will be heavy, burly, and able to take just about everything you will dish it. But kiss your XC rides goodbye, cause you are gonna get dropped on the climbs.
