Best rear hub axle option?

1288 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BurkeVT
Hey guys,
I'm on a 2008 Blur LT w/ a King ISO rear hub. I would like to upgrade from my current qr setup to some sort of bolted or thru-bolt/axle setup, but am not entirely sure what would be the best route, nor am I entirely clear on the terminology.
I've done searches on mtbr, but am still a bit confused about which options work for a bike and hub currently set up with traditional qr's.
I know I can get funbolts from King. That seems like an easy option, but is it the best? I've also read about the Hadley 10mm thru axle as a simple, solid solution. Can a King rear hub be retro fitted to deal with this?
Thanks,

You already have the answer - Funn bolts. Add a stainless drive shell if you arn't a gram counter. Going to a new hub makes no $ense.

+1 ;)
Funn bolts for you.

I like the thru bolt rear hub and am currently using a Hadley thru bolt setup. I think that thru bolt is easier to deal with than the funn bolts for removing the wheel, but it isn't a show stopper.

FWIW, there is a ton of discussion on 10mm thru axle and thru bolt in all the forums. If you search using 10mm or 9mm you will come up on a lot of information
Funn bolts. Why drop a bunch of coin for a new hub?

The Hadley with TA works well, bit if you already have the King hub . . .
Thanks for the advice. I'm ordering up funn bolts.
I never intended to replace the hub; I was not clear on whether or not CK hubs could be retrofitted to work with a 10mm Hadley thru bolt, or something similar. (Thanks for the search pointer, AL29er.) Apparently, that's not (yet) a possibility.
