Yeah, Roach FR's are pretty good, I've got a pair and I've used them all season. They do seem to slip just a bith though. I also have used the Roach DH's. They are crazy overkill, don't slip at all, but are a bit restrictive at the back of the knee. For peddaling, I'd go with the FR's.

I also had a pair of 661's that were really comfortable, didn't slip, and easy to pedal in. Only problem is that after one crash the "spandex" material tore pretty easily.

I've done 20mi of XC with Roach FR. Not too hot or restrictive. Minimal slippage, good amount of protection. I use Kyle Straights now as I don't need that much protection for 99% of my riding. Maybe for Dville and N*.
