Best ISIS bottom bracket?

I got maybe 1000 miles out of a FSA Platinum Pro ti spindle bb before complete siezure. Mostly dry climate riding, all offroad. Which I guess isn't too bad for isis drive. I replaced it with a Race Face Evolve chromoly bb and for the life of me I can't get the creaking to disappear. The FSA seems to be a bit higher in quality but I'd go with a chromoly spindle if you're hefty. Too much flex with the ti which presumably beats on the little bearings that are the isis drive bane. my 2 cents.

I gave up on ISIS

Only tried Race Face service great they replaced three fourth still going but creaking when I push.

The last one has got about 2000 km on it. I put electrical tape around the ends and packet cavity with grease. One wet ride can kill it if you dont.

ISIS no. The older octalink es-70 or es-71 from Shimano are still going strong on my bikes for 4 to 5 years in ALL conditions. Great bottom brackets!

It will work the the 751 XT cranks or the 571 LX cranks that were identical except for the steel granny ring.
You can still find those cranksets around if you look. I think cambria has some XT ones.

SKF looks interesting, but I have not used them. [email protected] carries them.

I've been using a RF Signature Ti ISIS BB for 3 years. I have no idea why it's lasted for so long, but no problems so far. I'm 185 w/o gear and am currently running it on a hardtail single speed (was previously run on a Yeti ASX then an SC Blur). Guess I just got lucky...

Ok, who cursed me? My RF BB mentioned above just died.

I had to replace it with an RF SRX BB I had lying around and I don't trust it to last more than a couple of weeks.

What was the conclusion? SKF? The Truvative GigaPipe Max has 4 sets of bearings... Anyone?

Never got around to trying SKF. If I had stuck with ISIS, that's what I would've tried next.

I tried a Truvativ Gigapipe BB with the four sets of bearings just before giving up on ISIS. I was quite disappointed. It didn't last very long at all.

I'm now using Hollowtech II with the outboard bearings. My only gripe about it is that it's moved the chainline out a bit from where it was when I used ISIS.

Something FSA will solve your problems...avoid Truvativ they fail with me after 3 or 4 rides I get play.

As a stopgap, I tried one of the Nashbar Isis BBs. Came with "Power Tools" logo on it.

A year later, its still spinning quite nicely, and quietly. I'd recommend it for the price.

I'm running a FSA Platinum currently. I've got one on the commuter/trainer bike and it hasn't seen a ton of miles, but has seen some not so nice weather rides. Still no issues (knock on wood.).

If I was to replace in the near future I'd be looking at another FSA, Interloc, SKF, and the RF Signature line.
