On of my friends wants to get a heckler and he has a max $2000 budget. What is the best all mountain buildup he can do? What online stores sell a good complete heckler in this price range?

speegoat has complete hecklers starting at 1584 with the D AM kit.

second the D AM kit. it's a decent basic build and will leave your buddy with enough extra cash for better tires, bars, whatever. I got a D complete and had my shop leave off several components in favor of stuff I already had lying around, and so far I'm pretty happy with it. However, I wound up with a different fork and shock then the SC website specs (Recon instead of Tora fork and Float R instead of Swinger, so I'm not complaining), meaning that they may not have many of these Heckler builds left. Speedgoat or one of the others may have more stock than SC themselves do at this point, so just do some research. Ebay might be a good bet as well.

get a used heckler frame then build it up.
you can do a decent shock with x9 or xt parts and be under 2k if you shop around.

edit, actually that speedgoat deal is a great build for the price. I would go with that then budget 200 for upgraded parts to get the bike customized for yourself
