So I picked up my Superfly the other night not really knowing if and how much I would like it.

I've only had one ride on it but if my first ride is any indication of how things will be, all I can say is WOW!!!

It has the most unique feel of any bike I have ever been on. It is so comfortable that you'd think it would have to be a flex monster yet when I started up some pretty steep and long hills I found myself in at least two gears higher than normal and I am definitely no gear masher. It actually feels better in the bigger gear and seems to have a certain spring to the frame.

I had an IF in the past that up until this point was my all time favorite hard tail. Only time will tell if this ends up being as much fun as I think it will be but we're off to a good start.

My only doubts come with the contact points. I'm not so sure about the bars. I like wide bars but can't tell if these will be the best bars when the trails turns more technical. Also, I'll have to see about the seat as well as the post and stem. I'm a big fan of Thomson and the seat just seems cheap and plastic. I threw a Thomson Masterpiece with an SDG Fly saddle on there from another bike and dropped 1/4 lb. I have no problems with the crank being XT like some people have mentioned. I know they are reliable and light enough. An XTR would be great but what would it really save in weight 40-50 grams? The tires seem OK but time will tell here as well. I can get away with a lot less aggressive pattern on a 29er.

It weighs 23.85 lbs. as pictured.:) Stock tires run tubeless.

Welcome to the club! I was not an HT guy either, but i love that frame, like you said its super comfortable! I did the C29ssmax wheels also, and I swapped the bars and cranks out, and went tubless with captain tires...2.2 in the front and 2.0 in the rear, i love the bike!

Trailbike

I just sold my fs bike because it did'nt fit me and planned to replace it with the correct size fs bike. I purchased the SF as a light xc speedster only but I think it is capable of doubling as a light duty trail bike also.

Your Superfly came with the Crossmax wheels?
My LBS hooked me up with a deal to swap the Race X-lites out for these. Pretty much everyone told me to stick with the Race-X-Lites but i tried these anyway. I've only hit the trail with them a time or two but so far so good. They pedal well.

jut 8, bikenut316, I hit a pretty rough trail yesterday and it obviously isn't an FS ike but about as comfortable as a hard tail can get. The first thought that came to mind was Magic Carpet Ride then I realized someone already had that title......
