Whats the best cable set for Avid Mechs.

I know Avid makes the Flack and the Straight jacket. Is it worth getting these?

Also should I use FULL HOUSING or leave Gaps with cabe being exposed?

The bike is an Intense Tracer

i don't know about the cables, but definately do the full housing keeps the dirt out a lot better

Whats the best cable set for Avid Mechs.

Here's what works for me. Nokon or IRD Metawire housing & liner. Front brake has full liner and housing. Rear brake has full liner (no exposed cable), but gaps in the housing. I use a lighweight lube on the cable and liner... very little cable friction. I've been using the same setup on my derailleur cables and still feels new after almost 2 years.

Cons: price, costs as much as or more than the Avid straight jackets. installation is time consuming the first time.
Pros: lightweight. compressionless. lasts longer than traditional housing. can accomodate tight turns in cable routing.

Nokons's have another con, on one of my bikes I use them as shifter cables and the housings between handlebars and toptube-cablestops creak like hell after a few rides in the dirt. At first when steering I thought something was terribly wrong with my headset but it turned out to be fromt Nokon housings.

So my setup for the BB7's is with the full length Flack Jackets and they work really well. Much cheaper than Nokon too.
