I'm from the US, and before Covid we planned a MTB to Europe. Don't want to do a ton of driving, but I'd like to hit up at least 2 different parks. Good food, decent lodging and great riding are my priorities. More into quality than quantity, and prefer intermediate flow trails.

Looking at Winterberg in Germany, Saalbach in Austria, Les Gets/Morzine in France and Mottolino in Italy.

Any suggestions? I'll have a full week and don't mind some driving, but don't wanna spend anymore time in the car than I need to. Proximity to an airport a priority too, hopefully something 2 hours or less, but flexible.

I have been to Saalbach and Les Gets/Morzine, spent a month is both locations last year. Can't speak for bike parks I was there with a road bike and an XC bike. But of the two areas I preffered the Lets Gets/Morzine.

Generally there are more trails in France. When I was in the Saalbach area I rented a place from one of the main builders at the Leo Gang bike park. The process they have to go through to build a new trail is extensive and outside of the bike park there are very few MTB trails.

Have a look at Lenzerheide in Switzerland they have a really nice trail system which connects to several stations like Arosa, and Chur. From there you can also drive to Flims/Laax which hosts one of the longest flow trail in Europe I think

Hafjell in Norway, Val Di Sole in Italy, are both on my list. There are shuttle services in Finale Ligure too.
Both Hafjell in Norway and Are in Sweden look sick, and I'd absolutely love to visit Scandinavia. Hopefully one day, but this trip I wanted to keep it further south.

You're the second person that's told me about Val Di Sole, so I'll definitely check it out. I'm Italian so naturally I'd like to visit Italy, plus it's an easier sell to the wife since she desperately wants to visit Milan and Florence.

I've been to Switzerland, but that was before I even knew what downhill mountain biking was. I used to work for Swiss Army Brands and we stayed on Lake Lucerne. It was breathtaking, and the people and food couldn't have been better!!

Appreciate the tips!

If you are going to Italy, I prefer Livino over Val Di Sole. Livino has good bike parks, a lake, and incredible views.

Yeah Livigno looks amazing and is currently atop the list. Logistically it makes sense too cause we can fly into Zurich or Milan. My wife's friend is tagging along, so they can visit Monaco and the coast for a couple days, and Morzine is only a 4-5 hour drive.

We're actually going for 10 days, but it'll be 7 days of actual riding, which I'm gonna break up into 2 different destinations. With the Mediterranean within driving range, that keeps the wife happy (her and her friend have been going to France/Italy since they were in high school, so they're good on their own).
