A friend just got the Marin Hamilton 29er from REI and loves it---1.6 tires and all is great for commuting....Im considering that as well....Other suggestions?

that's what i came in here to post. i almost got one earleir this year, but i decidec to buy an old road bike to convert to single speed. they look like a great bike for the price.

Kona Dew 2-9? Cheap and good, should be able to stuff some knobbies on it if you so desire.
