Take a look also Galfer rotorsIf you could choose any 200+/180mm rotor combo for XT 4-piston trail brakes, what would you choose?
- Hayes D-Series
- Hope Floating Disc
- Magura HC
- Shimano XT SM-RT86 Ice-Tech
- SwissStop Catalyst Pro
- SRAM HS2 Rotor
If you are having a caliper that is pushing out its pistons (is that what you mean by puking caliper guts?) Then increasing the thickness of your rotor is by 0.2mm is not going to fix that - you have a much more serious issue. Care to share a photo of the setup/failure so we can get a better understanding? These brakes are the most disappointing garbage. I have an 8020 that just puked up the caliper guts in barely 400 miles, the 8120 bleeds the bite point down in three rides and needs a constant fluid bleed.
I'm moving to 2.0 rotors hoping that may improve these bite point issues. Someone at Shimano needs to go hara kiri over these pathetic parts.
I hope so, just ordered a pair to go with my XT 4 pots. Currently use Ice-Techs, but find they warp pretty easy.galfer 2.0 thick rotors imo

Why? What makes the rotor more special than say, SRAM or Magura?galfer 2.0 thick rotors imo

I’d assume for the average joe any would work fine as long as they’re 2.0mm thick. I like the Galfer design better, more heat dissipationWhy? What makes the rotor more special than say, SRAM or Magura?
