My buddy Bert picked up this a week or so ago.

Bert, Kate, Steve and I had a good Winter Solstice ride on the Middle Fork Trail near Oakridge OR.

Wow, now I know why you guys HAVE to runs discs up there. Rim brakes probably last for half a ride.

The conditions were fairly mild today.
Usually not gritty enough here to wear down the pads quickly. The bigger issue is the rim brakes do not (brake) in the wet and slush and snow. The discs work the same wet or dry.

Nice. I think I've ridden with Bert once, at Barbie Fall '04. He hammered up the big climb out of Smith Rock. SS of course.
