Berryman ride

Well since I enjoy all the posts in this section, I decided to bring along a camera on my last trip to Berryman MO to share with you guys. It's a 25 mile singletrack loop in the ozark hills and one of my favorite trails.

I decided to take a day off work, and went down on a Friday (6-5). Rode the trail, and camped friday night in the Brazil Creek campground. I thought I'd have the whole place to myself, but by the time I got back to the site, there were a few families there already.

This whole area is full of trails, including Council Bluff lake, and Ozark trail sections. All great riding.

Trail, didn't bring the good camera, they are a little dark

In the middle of the trail, there is a spring that is drinkable. The trough is great in the heat of August to cool off in too!

You drink out of that spring?

You're a braver person than I. I'll dunk my head and cool off but I won't drink out of it.
Well, I ran into a guy on horseback who grew up in the area and said he has been drinking out of it for 40 years and has never gotten sick. I take water right out of the tube, not from the trough though!
Berryman...I've been there!
Very fun trail.
Okay....

Locals in Mexico don't get sick from drinking their water either. I'm not saying it's not potable, I'm saying that 7 or 18 miles in to the ride (depending on which campground you're riding out of) isn't the time to gamble with potable vs. non-potable artisian wells.

I do appreciate rolling out in to the meadow and dunking my head, though. It's one of the many hidden joys of Berryman. The descent in to Brazil Creek campground is another.

Fun trail. It's been several years since I've ridden there.
