Don't know about GOOD trails, but this page shows something in both counties:

Couldn't find anything on the Barkcamp S.P. site about their 4 miles of trail, and the Jefferson Lake trails look to be multi-purpose. At least it's a place to start looking.

Hmmm... I did'nt think I would find ANY local riders on this site, Steve! Nobody's posting much on our usual site so I started playing on this one! Somehow Ohio ended up on the Midwest forum for some reason and I just found it now and saw your name. I thought we were in the east coast catagory. At least at Paris Island they told me we were. ILL and east of it is east coast. Oh well. If you are bored then check out the Tooltime forum and go to the "Question" thread. Good reading...start at the beginning!

Are there any good trails in Belmont County, Ohio?...or Jefferson for that matter?
I had to move to Belmont County from Pittsburgh for work back in July. The only place I have found to ride after work besides the rail trails is the trail at BarkCamp. Its a pretty fun flowing loop but its pretty short. I'm not the fastest guy or in the best shape and I can ride the whole thing in about 20 minutes with a stop or two. I have not found a map of the mountain bike trail but there are maps of the hiking trails. From the entrance to the park, stay straight and go down the hill to the lake. You cross over one bridge and then a second bridge right after the first. After the second bridge there is a parking lot on the left. park there. Across the road there is a bicycling road sign on the edge of the trees. That is the trail. Follow that to the first sign I believe it says "Oak Loop." Turn Left on to the Oak loop and just continue to follow that. The trail crosses over itself in a few places but just stay straight and follow the flow of the trail and you will end up back where you started. Its a pretty fun and flowy trail with one small tabletop jump and a couple of small rocks you drop of off.

As for other places to ride, check out spokejunkies.com and http://camba.us/wp/ for more trails. From Belmont county, I can get to Newark in a a little less than 2 hours to ride the freeride/DH trails at Horns hill. and less time to get to the Wilds. I have been meaning to check out the trails at the Wilds, but haven't had a chance yet. The trails at the Wilds are suppose to be pretty fun.

Hey there, my wife and I are looking to get our first mountain bikes in a couple weeks and will be looking for places/people to ride with this spring. We live in Shadyside and will be getting our Trek's from Quick Service Bicycle Shop in Martins Ferry (actually a Bridgeport address, but closer to Ferry).

I've heard good things about the Barkcamp trails, actually the folks at Quick Service are the ones who have been building and expanding those trails out there. I'm really excited to get back on a bike, it's been 6 or 7 years since the last time I was on two wheels, aside from my motorcycle. If any of you are interested, we'd love to set something up once the weather finally breaks!
