i see no reason to upgrade/downgrade. i prefer the mongoose.
:D :D Man with all the negative responses I am glad I haven't gotten rid of the Mongoose frame yet...LOL:D :D
Did you get a new seat collar?;)

Edit: I've always been curious about the magic link. Give us a ride report when you get some time on it.
sully what are you going to do with the Kyber? When did you pick up the Kona frame?
Khyber- Not sure yet waiting to see how this rides. When- came in yesterday. Taking it up to Rays Milwaukee tomorrow to try and dial it in.. I know too much for there but you and I know the local trails are messed up right now that will have to do...
yep agree with others, step in the wrong direction in both looks and im guessing performance.

But im not riding it and maybe it will suit your style better
I don't think so guys. The goose is to burly to ride with any success around our parts. If I remember correctly its 33+ lbs. And handles like a dh rig. Guess I will have to see it up close!
I have a 09 Coilair and I really like it. Only thing I'd change would be lighter weight and a bit stiffer. But doesn't slow me down either way. Very plush, pedals well for a bike with more then 7". It works very well for where I ride. And importantly for me was CHEAP. I also really like the paint in person.

Give it a good try. Play with the magic link settings and see how you like it. Worst case you end up back on the goose which I like to.
How old is your khyber frame, and have you had issues with the BB link bearings becoming trashed??

Can you expand your thoughts a little bit?
What are your trails like that makes this bike the wrong tool?
It is heavy, your 33+ lbs is accurate... but arent a lot of All mountain/trail bikes?
My opinion, no, it does not handle like a DH rig. it handles like an AM bike with a slack HT angle and a super low slung center of gravity, while remaining impressively lively and flickable.

I'm not trying to argue, or anything, just wanted to hear your take on why its not the best bike for your region, and what your trails are like that makes it that way.

thanks.
My bike is 34 lbs:yikes:
The extra weight helps me get more momentum down hills:crazy:

Iridethedirt, If it has to do with Mongoose or Manitou, I will probably show up eventually

I'll let the OP handle that! Those were just my observations!
Diggin the goose! A buddy rides a teocali and always kept up with me on my 21lb yeti hardtail. Nice bike though.
