Hey all, Just was wondering what bearings I'll need for the Transition Double.

Need some new ones soon, but I don't really want to disasemble my ride before I receive the new parts.

Order these, they are better than OEM.

Specifically it should 8 of these "6903-2RS". You should be able to read on the side of the bearings without taking it apart.

You need to order the bearing tool from transition also, otherwise it will be a real pain.
Hmm, I'll have to check tomorrow.

I'm from the UK so the link unfortunately is no help. My bad for not stating.

Will the codes be Universal?

Yes the codes should be. The codes are written on the side of the bearings. Also why is the link of no help?? I order parts from the UK all the time and have it shipped to USA.
I'm Poor. No job, so I'm looking to source the bearings from my local bearing shop and get my lbs to fit them. As a late xmas gift from the parents.

I'll get the bike out tomorrow and see If i can check them.

Any idea if they need a specific type, Needle/ball etc etc?

Thanks for the help though mate. Mucho Appreciated.
The most recent Doubles use a 6903 bearing at all the pivot locations. You can buy a "bearing kit" from us, or buy them individually from any number of sources. The codes are universal.

The V1 Double had a smaller rear bearing, which is a size 608.

You would use our 30mm bearing tool for the 6903 and the 22mm tool for the 608 (if you have an older frame).

Cheers!

They are radial sealed cartridge bearings.

Here is a cool website about bearings: http://www.gizmology.net/bearings.htm
Thanks Transition. Much appreciated!

Slightly off-topic. Which version do I have if the shock mounts on the top?

Good point! I have just realized an error in our system though...

We have a Double V1 bearing kit and a Double V2 bearing kit. Those should really be called a Double V1/V2 kit and a Double V3/V4 kit. The one labelled V1 is the older style with a smaller rear bearing (V1 and V2 frames). The bearing kit labelled V2 is the newer style with equal bearings everywhere (V3 and V4 frames).

V1 - Shock mount on down tube, small rear bearing,
V2 - Shock mount on top tube, small rear bearing,
V3 - Shock mount on top tube, large rear bearing, 3.5" travel
V3 - Shock mount on top tube, large rear bearing, 4" travel

I will get that description corrected so it isn't so confusing. Thanks!

From that information, I'm guessing i own a v3?
