I have a 2019 beargrease (current geometry) and want to put some bigger rubber on 26" mulefut 80 rims. Salsa states the max clearance of 4.6", but does anyone have experience fitting slightly larger? I am looking at the 45NRTH Husker Du's in 4.8, or Barbagezi's in 4.7s...not sure if it matters but its on an XL carbon frame. Thanks for the input!

I've got an XL Beargrease with Dillinger 4s and clearance is generous, especially up front.

I asked about D5s and somebody posted up pics of their BG/D5 setup, and everything looked peachy.

Can't recall which thread.

Yea but the Dillinger 5's are stated as 4.6", which would fall within the stated limits on the bike. I know they don't all measure the same, but the tires I am looking at are .1-.2" wider. I know it wont be an issue in the front, its the rear clearance I am questioning.

Hello,
I customize a new size M frame at the moment with 4,8 Vittoria Cannoli on 100mm rims, and I had also concernes if the tyres would fit.
Front is not an issue, because the King Pin can accomodate 5" also in the Mukluk, but I was not sure about the rear.
The bike is not jet finished but the tyres fit - I tried it in the frame.
There is enough clearance to every side - approx. 1cm each.
The diameter ist not an issue. so, everything looks very comfortable.
I measured the tyre width - it is approx. 115mm (4,5"), which is almost the same like my 4,8 Jumbos on 80mm DT Swiss rims.
I don´t expect that the tyres would become much wider when using them, because the Jumbos didn´t also.
The clearance in the frame I measured is approx 130mm (5,1") (chain stay / seat stay)
