Anyone have experience with Beachwood Bikes in Beachwood NJ? I checked out the store for the first time the other day and the store employees were complete and utter arrogant A-holes. i went their on a recommendation and now see no need to ever step foot in that sh1tshow again.

I know that place. I have lived in Beachwood for a decade and only gone there when I need parts right now. If you are not looking to spend $$$ on a new RockyMount or Specialized they don't really want to chat it up much. At least that's what I have experienced. Seem like good dudes, just into their own thing and not too great at making you feel welcome. Pricing was never stellar either but a M&P shop is gonna have a hard time matching an internet outlet.
Beachwood

I used to work in that neck of the woods and I thought they were a great, great shop- In fact I probably went 2 years plus before dropping any sign coin (I had them build a wheelset that is 5 years old that is going as strong as it was the day they sold it to me). Great shop.
 those guys are awesome there, extremely knowledgeable and willing to help, even if they know your just window shopping,i was going to buy some hayes brake parts there but he recommended i call hayes cause they would probably send me the parts for free, they could have sold me the parts but they didnt, another time i was looking for a lever they didnt have in stock and would take a few days to get, but one of the workers said he had one at home he'd sell me so i wouldn t have to wait, anyone else i know that deals with them always speaks highly of them, great bunch of guys......
they are awesome there.
they always have the parts that i need and ive gotten good deals on stuff.
i used to be a bike tech so it was nice to hang around a shop and shoot the sh!t.

ive heard that a bunch of times about that place, never been there myself but your not the first to be turned off by their attitude.
I was just there the other day. Just needed a tube real quick. They were really friendly and had no problem spending some time just bsing.
Hey guys,

My name is Jim and I work at Beachwood Bikes. For those of you who had a less than pleasurable experience, I severely apologize. I promise that we're just a group of guys (and one awesome chick) that love to ride bikes and we really strive to relate that joy to our customers. Perhaps you happened to stop in on an off or busy day, but whatever the case, I hope that you'll give us another shot and I promise that you won't be disappointed. If there are any specific instances you wish to address please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Again, I apologize to anyone who may have felt at all unwelcome, as that is certainly the last thing we want. We really appreciate our customers and as long as you enjoy being on two wheels, you're welcome at Beachwood Bikes.

Jim
I have been down to that shop a few times great bunch of peeps.
some of the folks I ride with have gotten their bikes there and have had nothing but good things to say about them.
do your self a favour when asking opinions on a shop read the entire thread before deciding then bop down to the shop and peek around.
I have always seen 1 or 2 bad raps on a shop in every one of these threads.
It is nice that after getting told about their attitude that one worker repsonse was to email him and say we can talk. To me it's saying, ya someone made a mistake and we are willing to correct it. I have been in bike shops too (not this one)and felt there are some who are a know everything about bikes and I am young and you the customer can not in no way be as knowledgeable about bikes as me. PLus I am wearing cool clothes. Please these shops do exist in the marketplace.

So go back and challenge (as the same questions again) their customer service then tell us what happens. Just do not tell them when you are going see what their attitude is again, it should not matter if it is a busy day or off day customer service is customer service. Yes we all have bad days but a customer can tell when a store is good. There is a bike store near me where the asst mgr is a hole, so I avoid him. He is just not a people person and can not answer a question without being a jerk.
I bought a tube from Beachwood Bikes today and when I got home I found that it had a leak. I brought it back to the store and told one of the store associates and she checked it out and then another person stepped in and outright refused that they could have sold it to me like that. I told him that I was going to tell others about this experience and he told me that if that is the way I wanted to be then I should take my business elsewhere. I am not at all upset about being sold a defective product; it happens now and again but the fact I could not get a replacement is just bad business.
Jeez, they made that big a fuss over a tube? That's lame. Time for a new shop
