I'd just finished putting together my Pug after deciding to put gears back on. My wife sticks her head round the shed door and comments "that's a nice bike, very fat tyres. I like it" Thinking nothing else of it, I file it under "married couple, small talk!" My wife has never been on a bike for years and has rarely shown in interest in "my" hobby!

Next day, I'm getting ready to take the dogs out, which I often take the bike with me to check it out, when I've just had it in bits. My wife appears and asks if she could come too, she wants to ride the white bike with the fat tyres!!!!! Being the diligent husband I allow her to take the Pug. This won't last long I think to myself!?!? How wrong could I be.. I never get a chance to ride it any more!

Sure, I've had comments and folk stopping to ask about it, but never would I imagine that a Pugsley, my Pugsley would entice somebody to take up cycling again!

Looks like I'll have to buy another one for myself!!

I bought a Salsa Fargo. Now I am buidling my girlfriend one. Same is true with their Casseroll, I have had mine for three months, building hers next week.

I have a Mukluk arriving in a month or so, I wonder what she'll think..... Anyone noticing a pattern?
Scary.

I have a Salsa El mariachi LE.

My wife loved it and she now has an apple green El mariachi (old model).

I have a gen 1 Fargo. I'm trading up to a Fargo ti.

she's inheriting my green Fargo.

I have a Pug'. I'm moving on to a Mukluk.

She tells me that she wants my pugsley...

I took my bike to Home Depot today to buy light bulbs on the way home from work... I had to fend off 3 sexy young girls while wheeling my Fatback around the store.
Another great reason to get a fat bike

Very funny stories.

Anyone notice that the most masculin of bikes get the attention of women right away, while most men will just ridicule them? Now try and convince a woman to try out a basic XC or DH bike. I can see their faces now.

My wife usually pays NO attention to anything I'm doing that's bike related. One day, I was watching a Fatbike video and she stood behind me and watched the whole thing. I had no idea she was there until she spoke up and said "That looks like something I could get into". I almost passed out. Not only is my wife not very outdoorsy, she hates the cold.

I have been lusting over fat bikes for about a year now and I showed my wife and what does she say? "I want one too." Great, now its gonna cost me $3500 instead of just the $1700 I was looking at. Not like she rides her current bike anyway. Man, what does one do with that?

The best way to always have a riding partner is to get your wife to like it as much as you do. Buy them the best you can afford and don't give them the hand me downs. It works in all aspects of sports not just fat bikes. My wife got the new 907 for Christmas while I still ride the old model but she has been riding with me during the recent cold spell at -5F. I did buy her heated insoles for the really cold days. Happy wife makes for happy life. BTW I have been married for a long time. Just some old man advice offered.
