Ok, first time post. I am trying to sort out a problem. I want to upgrade to disc in the front. My ride has an older (apparently) Marzocchi Bomber with 9mm drop out slots and IS 51mm caliper mounts... Will I have a compatibility issue if I want to use the Avid BB7’s? Do I simply need to ensure that my new disc hub/wheel has a 9mm axle, or is there more to the story?

9mm is a standard front axle size for use with a quick release skewer, and the BB7 normally comes with an adapter for the IS tabs, so that fork should be fine and you shouldn't have any problems...

ALL front non-through axle forks are 9mm.

All BB7s fit IS 51mm mounts.

Be aware there are some older Bomber forks (pre '99) that have 49mm disc tabs that will not work.
