Hello

I have a project on the go to run 6 MC-E in 4P6S using a hipFlex. ( individual die access)

Therefore I need a battery to supply a max of 24v. However 6 li-ion cells provide 25.2v straight off the charger. And 5 cells provide 21v.
Can I discharge the 6 cell battery until it reaches 24v?? Or will the 5 cell battery stay in regulation , ie not drop below the vf of the LEDs @ 700mA ~20.4v. I doubt it!
I will have the battery in a 5S2P or 6S2P config to provide enough power.

Which option would you go for? Would I be better off just running 5 MC-Es???

Thanks

Run 5 MC-E. I have had a few conversations with George at Taskled about a 6-up configuration and he was very clear that the HipFlex would not survive at anything over 24V period, so a 6-up is kind of out of the question unless you are driving from a very well regulated 22-23V DC powersource (not a battery). 5-up will still blow you away with brightness.

Yeah, I think Vf of 21v is a bit too close to the 24v max of the driver. I like the idea of 2 hipFlex drivers!
However, I like Itess' idea even more. Then I can have silly amounts of light when ever I need it (showing off to my mates with Lupines!) and just the single MC-E when I am on the road or climbing.
Going to order one from George right now. Thanks for the idea!
