I know I may get flamed for what seems to be an obvious question(!), but here goes...

The rechargeable battery used in the Contour 1080 is a 3.7v battery 1050mAh Li-ion.
The question is will any battery with this configuration work with the Contour or does it magically have to be purchased from Contour or specified "for Contour"?

The actual battery they use is a Nokia BL-5C you can pick up some inexpensive ones on DealExtreme. These from Japod have gotten good reviews as a quality battery unlike some of the cheap eBay batteries that do not even put out the rated mAh.

Also beware of any battery claiming more than 1050mAh. There is oly so much volume in those small cells, so they really can't have more capacity.
